National School Lunch Program

We are proud to work with the United States Department of Agriculture to provide the abused, abandoned, neglected and homeless children that call SJRC their home with a balanced and nutritious meal program. For many of our children the healthy, nutritious meals they eat at SJRC are often their first exposure to balanced, nutritious foods. We contract with the USDA to serve the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and After-school Care Snack Program for the children living in our residential foster care programs. We also comply with the new meal patterns implemented by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 for Texas to increase the availability of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to our children.
