Behavioral Specialist

SJRC Texas is seeking a Direct Care Worker Full-time, 4 days on 3 days off Work Schedule.

Responsible for providing nurturing and caring home-like environment for Basic, Moderate and Specialized Level of Care youth within our residential locations in both Bulverde and New Braunfels, through constant support and praise and with proper parental role modeling using the SJRC Therapeutic Framework, Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). Also, responsible for staff supervision and training to ensure that staff are competent in their job duties — Experienced Child Welfare Workers and Veterans strongly encouraged to apply. Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties

Administrative
Responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory agencies including DFPS, Council on Accreditation and USDA as examples
Stay within the guidelines of the approved annual budget when making decisions about purchasing program specific items such as youth clothing, food, household supplies and vehicle fuel
Participate in key professional and community organizations as youth advocate
Participate as needed in weekly meetings with the management team.
Responsible for leadership, daily supervision, performance evaluations and corrective actions for current employees in coordination with the Management Staff
Provide input to management team regarding the decision for hiring and termination of an employee
As required, assist with staff training
Assist with staff scheduling in order to minimize overtime, honor requests for time off while allowing for on-going schedule changes
Ensure all required documentation is completed by the end of each shift
Attend and document all household meetings
Responsible for submitting a weekly inventory of food/supplies to Campus Supervisor

Program
Available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week on-call responsibilities rotation
Ensure safety and supervision of residents at all times
Attend all Single Child Plan of Service meetings
Teach youth social, self-help, academic, independent living, problem solving, personal hygiene, financial literacy and employ-ability skills
Provide crisis intervention to youth while maintaining emotional self-control.
Observe, document and consult with Case Managers on youth behaviors and progress.
Attend to youth’s medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health needs
Provide for moral and educational development of youth
Serves as role model for youth by exhibiting skills taught in program
Support and assist youth with all educational needs to include homework, projects, and extracurricular activities
Assist with on-campus volunteer activities

General
Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors Degree and/or strong child welfare worker prior experience — please note Veterans also strongly encouraged to apply as this job encompasses a wide-variety of Skill Sets, i.e. Soft Skills, Communication Skills, Team Work, Flexibility, Planning, Coaching/Mentoring, etc.
